A year or so ago, my 19 yr old daughter bought a 1979 Pontiac TransAm / Firebird. I'd forgotten all about it since it's been parked at a family barn most of the time. She came to tell me last week that she's "selling the TA" which kinda shocked me and threw me off-guard knowing that Pontiac shut down last year. I said "Wait!" I took a quick look at it the other night (in the dark) and thought it was in better shape than I'd remembered. Anyway, much admiring older Pontiacs since I used to have a 67 Ventura, I told her to forego the sale and bring it to my garage (with plenty of space and tools) so we could work on it. She seems to be interested in doing that. Now, I'm wondering what I'm getting into and want to learn more about the car. She says she paid $2000 for it and was offered $2500...again, knowing that Pontiacs stopped last year, that seemed short. Anyway, what are the differences between the Trans Am and the Firebird?... or is the TA a different version of the Firebird? I think the interior door panels are missing...Where am I going to find parts if I need and/or can't fabricated them? Any insight you have would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
