I currently have 4 TV's hooked up to my dish. There are two cables from the dish, one goes to two receivers downstairs and the other goes to two more receivers upstairs.

I have just bought a used 5200 dual mode receiver. I want to operate my two downstairs TV's with it. The instructions state that I must use both cables from my dish. Does this mean that if I do this, I cannot hook up my other two upstair receivers?

So you currently have 2 lines, providing signal to 4 receivers? I didn't think that was possible...
I believe you can split the signal of DPP LNB's/switches, but only if it is for a dual tuner receiver (3200, 5200, 9242, etc...)
The 5200 is a dual tuner, and requires 2 inputs, whether 2 cables from the switch, or a single cable, from a DDP LNB/switch, and split at the receiver
I would have a look in the installation forum, as it may better explain or help you figure out what you have, and what you need to get all receivers working
Good luck

As above, if you only have 2 lines from the Dish I can only imagine that just inside the building there must be a 4 way multiswitch, which will have 2 lines going upstairs and 2 more downstairs.

If this is the case, just exchange the 4 way for a 6 or 8 way switch and run 2 lines to the 5200.

alan_hayes,

I have moved your thread into installation forum. It is not possible to run 4 receivers with only two lines without some kind of switch.

Have a look at where the cables come into the house there should be some kind of switch.

If you intend on keeping all 5 receivers you will need to get a multiswitch with more outputs.
