Hooking computer up to stereo problems getting a buzz in the background?

I just hooked my computer up to my stereo and i'm getting a buzzing in the background. I'm using the adapter with the 1/8 audio converted into rca. head phone adapter is hooked to the back of the computer and the rca to the stereo receiver. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it thanks
