Honest Opinions on the 1098

I don't know about anyone else but arnt these "which bike should I buy?", "1098 vs some other bike", "is this a good beginner bike?" threads getting a bit old? I mean there are like ten recent threads floating around of the same question. No disrespect to any new members that just want to break the ice with a new member wanting to buy a duc thread, but holy shit people there is a search button. Anyone can find anything they want about riding a 1098 through searching "1098 impressions" or some crap like that. Sorry guys I just had to get that out. Its 1:30 am and I'm on night shift with only 2 hours sleep.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's one less on the road.

It takes some time to get used to ANY bike. The 1098 is a beast. Wait until you twist the grip and get the tach to 10,000 RPM's. You will know power. Furthermore, Duc's have the best brakes in the business, something you cannot tell from a test ride.

Sounds like you need a Jap bike.

Both Skyline or F430 were fast and good, but they both will not satisfly you 100%. The choice is you want to be in Jap or Ital.

I choose 1098 base on its look.

You can drive a Toyata camry all day long for cheap price on everything, and the choice is yours. That is why there are so many different type of bikes out there. Look into your pocket first before you decide your budget. Don't look for something you know is over your budget. A ducati probably will not be a daily transporation unless you have deep pocket. Nothing worng if you want to step up. Bike soemtimes can be expensive especially you need to spend extra money for all the gears...

KG,

'Sounds like you have already inhaled the Ducati crack. You'r hooked. Just buy the 1098 because if you don't you will always have that little tinge of "what if" in the back of your mind. This is a kick a$$ bike that gives me an adrenaline rush just looking at it in my garage.

I wouldn't use it as a stop and go commuter, especially when it is hot. I also wouldn't be doing a lot of freeway riding; unless you ride the freeway to get to the twisties. The more you work this horse the more enjoyable it is and the more you will be glad you pulled the trigger.

Go to the dealer, inhale deeply; then ride like the wind my friend, ride like the wind.

dont get one, they dont handle, dont go, dont brake, do your self a favour- get the mighty 848, i cant give my 1098 away- god i wished i hadve waited for the 848
