Honda XR50 Carbeurator problem?

I have a 2001 honda xr 50 and i just bought a new carb and new air filter and i took the old carb out to put new one in and its too big so i cleaned old one and put old one back in with new air filter and still doesnt work it starts for bout 30 seconds then dies

help me out please
