Honda prelude problems?

Can someone please help? I have a 93 honda prelude and for some reason when I go to accelerate it putters and loses power. But when I hit like 4 grand on the rpms it picks up again..it does it in every gear. And when im at idle it drops below a a grand and fluctuates for a couple seconds then it stops. But when I first start and drive it its fine but after a while that's when it happens..I put in new plugs n wires and I dnt wanna buy something expensive If don't need to..I just want it fixed..does anyone have any ideas that could help
