By the sounds of it, maybe several things. If you car is burning oil, either your head gasket is blown or you have piston/ring damage. Also make sure your oil isn't overfilled. The check engine light could be a lot of different things. Take it to autozone or a pep boys. Usually they can read the code for you for free and steer you in the right direction for repairs.
