honda oil problem help?

this is what happened- took my car for oil change , so it was full with oil- 2 wks later oil light was blinking on, checked oil stick it was 3 quarts low- first would the lite come on before getting that low ? plus the oil cap had broken threads and no seal the threads were compleatly gone on one side and there was oil running down engine from cap on that side , would that much oil come out of cap? and dont you think the oil place would of seen the really bad cap? im hopeing this was the problem and my 5 $ cap that i bought will fix it, what you think ? thanks for helping a grandma out !!!

Nobody can answer that. It depends on how bad the oil was running down.

They are too busy changing oil. And most of the people who work there don't know the first thing about cars. Also they make it a poicy NOT to point out problems because people tend to blame THEM for broken parts.

This is why guys like myself do the work myself. I also have 94 Civic and I was lazy for a while and paid people to change my oil. Then I realized there were few things wrong that could have been spotted early but the oil guys didn't bother telling me.
