Honda Interceptor to Honda CBR600RR?

All I'm gonna say is that you do NOT need a 1000. And unless you have trouble keeping your Interceptor upright while moving slow or while stopped there's no need to change your bike. I'm sure it goes plenty fast regardless of weight. And actually, if you have trouble while riding slow or being stopped, you need more practice. At 6'1" you really should not have any problems dealing with the weight while the bike's not in motion as you don't have to tilt it to flat foot.

Hey everybody i need help, Im 17 years old, 6'1 in height and weigh 152lbs and i have a 2002 Honda Interceptor and its a great bike except the only complain i have is that its a tad heavy for a sport bike and i've been thinking about getting a Honda CBR600RR? I've been riding for about 5 months and I'm very comfortable with riding motorcycles, I would like to get something that is more sporty and lighter I just need to know if its worth it or should i just keep this bike for a little longer then upgrade to something like a 1000 later i just dont know? the help for this decision is much appreciated. thanks

The Interceptor and the CBR are both wonderful bikes. I remember when the Interceptor first came out, back in the 1980s, one magazine reviewer called it 'God's Own Sewing Machine'. It was 'The Bike That Does Everything Well', a mild version of a sportbike that was more general purpose.

The CBR is more of a single-purpose sport bike, almost like a racing bike for the street. Yes, the CBR is lighter and probably faster despite fewer ccs. But it's not as comfortable. It has a tiny, hard little seat like a race bike. It has a narrow powerband up towards the top of the RPM range, so you have to keep it revved up to get the power out of it (the VFR is famous for its wide, smooth power band). The steering is twitchy and critical and unforgiving. The riding position is extreme (probably not as much of a problem at your age as it would be for me).

So yeah, if you want something lighter and more sporty, that's what you want. Just be aware of the compromise, what you're giving up for what you're getting.
