I put a new alternator in my 1988 honda prelude today

before it would not start so that has not changed

after i put in the alternator i tried to start it and i found the battery was dead, or so i thought, the 70amp fuse able link had blown ( the battery fuse)

so i ran down to autozone and bought a new one.

i put it on, attached the + battery clamp, then went to put on the - and right when i touched them together the fuse able link blew, i don't know what to do so if you can help let me know

like a needle in a hay stack..

some where along the power loom to the back of the fuse box or the wire from the fuse box the alternator it is 'earthing out' meaning their is bare wire touching steel..

there isn't going to be a fuse that causes the link the burn, the fuse would pop first the short would be between between the link and fuse box IF the link that is blowing is the one that feeds the fusebox, you need to determine what system that link provides power to or follow the wire that link is in until you find where its shorting out
