Honda engine replacement question Acura 1.6EL?

I have a 1997 acura 1.6 el. It is a similar car to the civic only made for acura. This car came with a d16y8. That engine has over 300k kilometers, and i don't know how much longer it will last. Now if this engine dies, could i put in a d17 from a civic, maybe d17a2 (I can get those engines for cheap). Would that bolt right in, or would i have to change a lot of parts to make it fit. If not a d17a2, would any other d17's fit in?
And also, if the d17 is not vtec could i use the vtec head off the d16y8?
