Hi, I recently installed an 88cc big bore kit on a 1971 honda ct70. It has great compression and a good spark. It will start with a really low idle with the choke half open but if I turn the throttle it will die. If I open or close the choke any further, it will die. I have checked for intake leaks and a clogged jets and all seems well. I am guessing it is something in the fuel delivery system. It has a 19mm carb with a #35 pilot. Is this too small? Any ideas?

Sounds like clogged jets or not big enough. The timing could be off a little to. But I would start by cleaning the air cleaner and checking the jets. I would put a bigger jet in and then adjust the carb.

The first question is why did you install the big bore kit in a ct-70?

Sounds like you have gunk in the jets. Soak them in parts cleaner, blow out with compressed air, then gently run a small wire through each orifice.. Make sure the float is not sticking.

Consider installing a titanium exhaust while you are hopping up your sled.

That should solve the problem.

Make sure you change all engine fluids.

Don't let the power rip your arms off.
