honda ct70 mechanical advance?

after struggling with my 71 ct70(4 speed manual) and replacing points and condenser and setting it, I noticed one of the arms on the mechanical advance is broken. I am guessing this is the source of my running problems. Will it run ok if I completely remove the mechanism? Do you know where I can get a replacement for the advance, or do I have to buy a whole fly wheel?
 
chances are the more expencive way is wat ur going to end up doing buy on ebay is cheaper
