Honda CRV problem - can't get it to crank?

my CRV will not crank - it will "turn over" but does not have a "spark" that makes the engine crank.
as you can see, I am very ignorant when it comes to the workings of a car....
but maybe someone has a suggestion.
these things work fine:
the battery
ignition
fuel filter
fuel pump
the alternator

any suggestions??
