1991 Honda civic sedan, manual. 290,000 kms.
Car started to stall intermittently when coming down to an idle and then would not start.
I had posted a previous question for this issue, but we have further trouble shot the problem.
It was advised that it may be the fuel pump, distributor, ignition coil or ERG valve. No CEL. Car runs great otherwise.
What we have done so far:Replaced fuel filter, checked batteries, checked fuses, etc.
Unhooked the fuel line from the fuel filter and cranked engine (during a no start phase) the fuel was pumped out everywhere, fuel pump was pumping.
Test wiring at the ignition coil. There was an intermittent open circuit in the ground connection.
We replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor and ignition coil.Car seemed to be running great - if not even better than before.
We went out on a drive on the HWY and after about 30 minutes, it lost throttle and stalled once we pulled over to the side of the HWY.
Would not start up again,. Tried repeatedly and finally started after aout 30 minutes. Drove back home, no problem.
Umm.. any other ideas?
distributor and ignition coil were both replaced. As well as wires and spark plugs.
I am leaning towards electronic. Possible rubbed through wiring somewhere shorting out?
Also, when it won't start, it will 'lug, lug, lug' whie turnig over like it's about to start, or trying to start, but doesn't get past that.

Just a guess, but you may want to check if your catalytic converter is clogged up. Any shop can usually check back pressure with a gage in the O2 sensor hole...excessive back pressure in the exhaust can stall the engine and in certain cases it would be hard to start...

well id be guessing but have you check for fire when it happens there is more eletronic's parts other than just coil which is what it sounds like i would have said coil bad but might be a pick up coil as well which is inside distributor sorry im sure its eletronics but as to what i dont know

I would test your coil pack or the whole coil system you may have a burnt spot when it heats up, this will cause your car to lose everything
