Well as you saw, my engine is making a screeching sound mostly between 2 and 3K revving. I am quite sure its an over-tight belt. What I wanted to know, my car doesn't seem to be as efficient as I thought it would be. When I have the car moving, if I release the gas, it really feels like the engine is slowing the car down. The speed lowers quite quickly. Is this normal for a standard? or is the belt putting strain on the engine.
