honda civic lx 2000 over heating problems?

my car over heats fan thermosta work and it over heats when im stopped but it goes down when i go but it take awhile for it to have this problem im concern it mite be the timing cause my rpm in way below the rpm please help me
 
There is a coolant flow problem. The case is probably a stuck thermostat on top of the engine. It stays closed when the car is cold and normally opens up when the car reaches operating temprature. But it sounds like yours is closed or not fully open not allowing antifreeze to flow through the engine to cool it down and stop from overheating.
