honda civic exhaust muffler question?

when I have my car turned on, the exhaust muffler rattles a lot and hits my rear bumper (makes a loud tapping sound).

What is wrong with it?
Would it cost me a lot to get it fixed?
 
If it is the factory exhaust, then you may have an exhaust hanger somewhere that is bent or out of place. If it is an aftermarket muffler (ie "fart can"), then this is normal, and will only marginally affect your coolness.
 
There is a exhaust hanger that holds the muffler up. it's probably not bent correctly or coming loose.
