Honda civic ex v-tech?

i dont know much about cars, but i love fast car. i drive a honda civic 99 ex. one of my friend told me that all honda civic EX has a stock v-tech. it's not as fast a honda SI v-tech, but it has a v-tech. and he told me that EX is like one of the fastest civic comparing it to DX, HX, and stuff. i was wondering is that true too?

Clearly, your friend seems to know what he is talking about. Any EX models of the Honda family are usually top of the line with the exception to EX si (dual over-head cam).....just a regular EX have a single cam and explains why it have less horse power then the SI models. EX stands for "executive"....top of it's class........LX stands for Luxury (second behind EX)..........and finally, DX (deluxe) which is last and don't have as much features as the EX or LX model.......and the HX ( I don't even know what that stands for....but it is the lowest of the civic model and the cheapest)

the dx and hx dont have vtec, the ex has a less powerful vtec engine compared to the si, i have driven the 5 speed, and it did have some get-go. i would suggest buying this and perhaps later swapping to a more powerful motor such as a b20..
