honda civic doesn't turn on?

the first day i drove the car all morning and left it parked at my house for about 8 hours. the car wasn't running funny nor was it making any weird sound. then as i was about to leave to a friends house the car started up like always i was letting it warm up. maybe 30 seconds the car just shut off. all the lights were still working so i tried turning it back on. it didn't want to. so i left the car parked for few days and my dad decided to take the fuel pump out. and he broke the pump on accident . so i bought a new one and installed it. after i installed it. the car turned on and idle for bit. i turned off and left it there for like an hour. when i decided to go out. it doesn't want to start. im guessing the relay but it doesn't make sense that the car started up after i installed a new pump. pls help me out.
