I changed my alternator cover on my 2007 Honda CBR1000RR recently, after the change, the battery won't hold charge for more than a day, so I replaced with a new battery, and now after a day it got drained as well.
Before the alternator cover change, the bike was running fine with no problems, however, when I first changed the cover, I forgot to put gasket sealant and a little bit of engine oil was leaking through the edges, so I took the cover off again, put proper sealant on and now it has a good seal with no more leaks. But now just the battery problem.
Could the above process have possibly damaged the alternator in anyways?
I have just checked all the wires/harness/plugs/fuses, the regulator looks fine too, and everything seems in good order, I also used a genuine Honda alternator cover so I'm sure this isn't the cause, there are also no unusual noises, please help this is frustrating as I got stuck at peak time traffic today and I don't wanna have to charge my battery every single time when I get home. I can't believe a simple alternator cover change can cause so much troubles.
When the charge is low, the bike will keep running if it's already running, but once you switch the ignition off I won't be able to start it again even if I try immediately.
