Honda CBR eats through batteries?

I have a 1998 Honda CBR 600 F3. 2-3 months ago the battery died and I bought a new one from NAPA. Recently that battery died and I had to buy another one. Could I have bought a bad battery or is something about the bikes electrical system wearing down the batteries faster than usual (3-4 year battery life). When these batteries died, they could not even hold a charge, so jumping did not work. What should I check for (I have a voltmeter)? Thanks for your help.

Get yourself a repair manual and start testing the stator assembly and the voltage regulator and rectifier. Testing proceedures will be in the repair manual as well as the expected voltages.

Honda makes world class engines, but their achelies heel has always been their charging systems. While it is possible that it is the battery, I tend to doubt it. since this last battery was only 2-3 months old the charging system is at fault.
