Honda Accord - Radiator leaks?

I have a 1996 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. My car was heating as soon as I was starting on the car. I took my car to CarX and they told me that the radiator is been leaking and it would cost around 400$ to get it replaced. Can anybody let me know that what is the right way of confirming if my radiator is leaking? Could it be true that my raditor doesn't have any coolant instead of the fact that its been leaking?

I have been noticing that at times there is some smoke also coming out from under the hood and its smelling like something is been burning.

Any help provided would be great.
Thanks

burning smell and smoke could be a sign of overheating. Easy check is look for a plastic reservior under the hood that says coolant. Make sure the car has been sitting for a while first. You don't want to open the cap on the radiator if the engine is warm. There should be two marks; one the says hot and one that says cold. If the coolant isn't between this range or it is way below, top it off with coolant to the cold line. Read the bottle most coolants call for a 50/50 mix with water. Then look for leaks coming from the front end of you car.

your car does have coolant and you do need to fill up your radiator with coolant. If you smell a sweet smell after you do that then you have a radiatior leak or thermostat leak or water pump leak; but a burning smell is something else, most likely an oil leak. You need to find someone you can trust, and who knows, to give the car a lookover then take it to the repair shop.
