Well I was at a friends house the other night and I was getting ready to leave, so I reached into my pocket to get my key for my '09 Honda Accord sedan and realized that the top part was open and the insides and buttons of the key were missing. I have no idea how that happened or where they could possibly be...I looked everywhere. Anyways, I snapped the key back together, even though it was hollow with no buttons, I still thought I could drive my car because nothing happened to the actual metal key. I was able to open my door by inserting the key into the door keyhole and was able to turn the car on, but when I started the engine, it would start for about 2 seconds and then shutoff, not letting me drive, reverse, or anything. There was a light of a key flashing on the dashboard. I tried multiple times and it didn't work, but I didn't think that the electric buttons of the key missing would have any security effect on the car. Is there anyway to fix this without buying a new key? Thanks a lot.
