homeland security?

Could someone give me a brief summary of what homeland security is and how it is affected by the war on terror? also, what are some possible solutions for the problem?

Homeland Security is a branch that was formed after September 11th that secures our airports and borders, included the TSA at the airport.
"The term homeland security refers to the broad national effort by all levels of government to protect territory from hazards, both internal and external, natural and man-made. The term is also used to refer to the United States Department of Homeland Security itself."
Its not affected by the war on terror, because it was created by our fear of terrorists.
As for solving the problem, lock the borders and stop funding overseas ventures that use those funds to attack us.
