Hi, I am an university student and this summer I want to start a tutoring business. Since I couldn't get a full time job, I think this will get me some experience.
So here is my idea. Put a couple flyers in the lobby of my building (on the message bulletin). The basic idea is to get kids prepared for school the next year. There are kids out there who are either behind, or want to get ready for the next grade. (at least parents want them to). So my goal is to help kids reach their academic goals before the start of school in September, 2010.
I have been babysitting for a while now. I have also been tutoring a little. I have the experience.
So here are my questions:
1) Are there any legal issues that I should be concerned about?
2) As parents, would you hire me to tutor your kids? Or is this service something that may appeal to you?
3) If so, How often do you think is it appropriate for lessons during the summer (Hours/ week)? And how much are you willing to pay (per hour)
I am a biology student at university, 3rd year and I can get access to curriculum information and perhaps even books. If possible, I might even get a group of kids and tutor them at once...and maybe do some projects that will allow them to have some fun over the summer.
