I just took one of the tests and the control had flecks of positive in it while my actual test was negative.
This whole thing started with me having a high blood pressure reading at my gynecologist's office. It was 159/109. It's NEVER been that high in all my life. She told me I needed to make an appointment with my regular doctor and that she would not prescribe me my birth control if my blood pressure was that high. So I went to the doctor and he said that my pressure was 145/85 - high enough to need medicine. I'm 27 and I've always had somewhat hight pressure, but this was much higher than normal. The Dr. put me on Lisinopril and I got the dry cough side effect as well as heartburn (which I rarely have had before) and a new, disturbing side effect - mucus blobs in my feces. I waited almost a month before calling my doctor again about this side effect and he said to stop the medicine and see if it goes away. The first day the mucus was gone, but a week and a half later it started again but not nearly as severe. I went BACK to the Dr. and he said that since there was no blood I didn't need to worry. So - hence the blood testing at home. ...and my pressure at home with the BP cuff is 130/83 - not high enough for me to need medicine, just less salt and less stress... >_<
The only reason why I'm taking this test is to make sure there's nothing seriously wrong with me.
1. Should I be concerned or dismiss the control as a false positive since nothing was in the water?
It just doesn't make any sense that the control with nothing in the water would slightly turn blue and when I actually took the test, the sample was negative. The test was from EZDetect and their website says nothing except by more of it...
2. Has anyone else taken Lisinopril and had any side effects like mine?
3. Any thoughts on whether I should take another test or rely on this one being negative?
4. Should I get a new doctor? I've heard that most doctors will want to do other tests to make sure I don't have a bowel infection, but he didn't seem concerned.
Serious answers/comments only please.
