ok folks, got me a geetar.....

hahaha j/k. i have a guitar i really want to learn to play. i tried before and tried learning with tabs and needless to say i didnt learn anything. are there any websites or advice you guys can give as far as learning the real way to play guitar. i mean learning chorgs, keys and everything. i just listened to Classical Gas and i have to learn to play it. such an amazing song.

Any other recommendations on great songs that are focused on the guitar? preferably acoustic.

When i learn't to play i found the easiest thing to do was learn a couple of chorRAB from a chord book, then try and get the actual rythmn (sp) by getting some simple music books (i also had a friend who could play and that helps a lot). When you've got that sorted then learn a few more chorRAB and your on your way. I know get a lot of music from the net but i still find it easier to read it out of a book.
 
I'm also trying to learn, but the thing I find the hardest is getting my fingers in position. I find most sites don't really tell you to put what finger on what string.
 
HEHE good luck w/ classical gas.......u'll need more than luck actually......go to www.ultimate-guitar.com and www.mxtabs.com and learn stairway to heaven....BUT KNOW THIS: if mess up playing it, U GO TO HELL.....be forwarned
