Holocaust novels by American author (work fiction)?

It got to be at Junior class Honors level,
Specific event or social issue.
My research paper has to be 8-10 pages long. I have to read a novel about an event in history that I can research. The novel cannot be on the Holocaust, or by an American. Any suggestions will be totally helpful.
 
The question is confusing. You need an historical event -- one that actually happened -- but it has to be a novel, which means it's fictional. So do you need an historical novel, or a non-fiction book about a holocaust?

Assuming you need a non-fiction book on the history of a holocaust, and not The Holocaust, the only other one that comes to mind is Rwanda. You might check out books by Immaculee Ilibagiza, an author from Rwanda, or Canadian Roméo Dallaire.
