Damn Freaky

I got told today about a couple of motorcyclists that where doing a trip down in the South Island of New Zealand the road was rural and narrowish they came round a corner and both hit a police car that was attempting a u turn to chase down somebody that had just gone past.
The bikes were smashed up pretty bad both broke a pelvis and some other bones.

I freaked when i got told what the guys were riding one was on a 999 and the other guy was on a Benelli 900, a few weeks ago i meet the guy on the Benelli and took some photos of his bike, how do i know it was him? because he told me he was going down the South Island for his annual bike trip.

Anyway heres the link to the story http://www.stuff.co.nz/4312248a11.html

The cop tried to tell them they were speeding inferring that it was their own fault!!

What sort of a dickhead does a u-turn on such a narrow road knowing there are bike buzzing up and down. I can't even believe the cops need to investigate, sounds like the cop is trying to pass the buck!!

You bet your ass "... they need to address the safety aspects of their pursuit policy".

The law here in OZ states you can't perform a u turn/3 point turn without at least 150m visibility. I'd assume it is much the same across the big ditch.

I don't care who you are, unsafe is unsafe and coppers shouldn't be exempt unless they are doing it safely in order to catch those nasty cwiminals. Of course the poor motorcyclist comes out second best when tangling with tin tops.

Poor bastards - no income insurance either.
