HIZ - High Intensity Zone

Dear forum merabers,

Did anyone had (or has?) HIZ (high-intensity zone) in spine?

HIZ is an MRI finding that 1/3 of the time is seen on the T2 weighted study of back pain sufferers. This finding is only seen in the lurabar spine. The sign can be indicative that the disc has an anular tear/leak. There are opinions both ways that this proves it (or not), so most doctors want some follow up testing (like discogram).
 
My mother has it 100%, I am having difficulties finding a treatment options of her...

Of course I fully trust our neurosurgeon, but I want to study all the possibilities.

If you know any info, please tell me.
