Hitchhiking in Europe?

I recently hitchhiked to Munich and then Berlin from Edinburgh in Scotland for charity in January. It was an amazing experience - met some fantastic people and had some amazing experiences.

Planning to do it again in late July/early August - but this time without knowing the destination (most likely in an Easterly direction). Me and my friend are also bringing our tiny 'microbikes' as well which take up basically no room whatsoever - can't wait!

On the outskirts of Berlin when I last did it, I met this amazing German guy who had been hitchhiking for half a year without any money (he did chores e.g. washing cars in exchange for food!) who had already visited a fantastic amount of countries! He carried a sign reading: „Das Ende der Welt“ (to the end of the world) which I will always remember. He was full of life and was clearly loving what he was doing. So jealous!!

Basically, have any of you hitchhiked through Eastern Europe before? Can you please tell me any advice/experiences?

I am British (Edinburgh), if that helps regarding my location!

Hi I'm polish. I used to hitchhiked in Poland, Germany and Holland. The road system is not the same like in Germany, the same distance can take you much more time than in other countries. We don't have many motorways but you will enjoy it. I have done it and really miss it. You will see much more than travelling by public transport. Polish country site is beautiful.
Good luck.
If you have any question just ask.
