I just got a 2008 Jeep Liberty 4x4, V6 3.7L engine. I need it to tow a Uhaul from Washington D.C. to Florida, so I am going to get a hitch installed on it. This is the ONLY time that I am ever going to use the car to tow, so I don't really want to invest too much $$ on this installation... Liberty is rated to tow 2,000 lbs (without the tow package-- I don't have the tow package). With the "tow package" Liberty can tow up to 5,000 lbs...
What size Uhaul trailer will I need to/ should I get, considering the amount of stuff that I have and the towing capacity of the car?? (I am selling most of my big furniture and will likley only have a queen bed, desk, and 3 bookcases as major furniture pieces and then my clothes, dishes, etc.)
What size hitch can I/ should I get?
Do I need to have a transmission cooler installed?
Do you think it would be okay to tow more than 2,000 lb if needed for this one time tow?
HELP!
Thanks!
