In many ways it was probably about the same for most people. There were a lot of farmers back then. Life moved slower for people. Radio was still a novelty as were 'moving pictures'.
The 'stock market' went on a bull run, there was more money to invest and people who previously had never 'played' the market found themselves in positions to invest. There was a LOT of opptomism about the economy and the future. (kind of like the 1980's,90's and first part of this century) business boomed. No one predicted the bottom would fall out. But on the other hand
Roads weren't paved and the highways across the US was primitive. Most country folks were using gas or kerosene for light, there was no electricity in most rural areas, and only minimal service in the cities. People still used horses and buggys, in the cities there were streetcars but most people walked. Most houses did not have central heat, there was NO air conditioning. Iceboxes were far more common than refrigerators. Gas stoves were more common than electric. Most country people still cooked on wood stoves. Women made clothing at home. Men had to cut enough wood for winter. People had huge gardens and canned (very dangerous) their own vegtables and meats. There was little leisure.
By 1929 little had changed, it was only the Government (blasted interferring Government) that got the Rural electrificantion Program going and eventually brought electricity to the country folks, paved roads too, buitl dams that provided work for thousands of unemployed men. loaned money to help businesses stay afloat. Terrible, nearly as bad a communism, helping people like that.
Survival of the fittest and all that. No, life did not change much during the twenties, now during the thirties is a whole 'nother story
