Concepts and Ideas:

How did the arrival of Europeans in the New World affect Native American cultures?

Transition to race based slavery

How did the colonies fit into the British system? Who were their important trading partners? What were the plusses and minuses for the colonies?

Keep in mind the lifestyles and societies that developed in New England, the Middle Colonies, and the Chesapeake region. (families, economies, political organization, etc.)

What was life like for slaves in the mainland English colonies? How did their experience differ in different regions?

Be sure and know a little about the formation of all the colonies, not just the ones we discuss in class.

Reasons for European exploration/expansion

Consequences of the Great Awakening
