is this a good definition of the declaratory acts?
The Declaratory Act stated that Parliament could legislate for the colonies in all cases. This act was passed right after the repeal of the Stamp Act for a reason. After the repeal, all of the colonists had thought they had won their freedom. They thought that after this win, Parliament would never try to legislate for their colonies again. England knew that the colonists were thinking this way, so they passed the Declaratory Acts immediately after the repeal. This way, the colonists would interpret the act as a face-saving strategy and nothing else. Parliament however, interpreted the act to it’s full extent and continued to legislate for the colonies. The colonists were furious that Parliament would trick them like that and they knew that they had not yet won the fight for freedom.
