History question about the early Americas?

What contribution did Columbus, Cabot, Magellan, and Verrazano made to knowledge of the New World territory that was eventually colonized by Spain and England? really need help with this, thanks.
 
Columbus essentially discovered the Bahamas in 1492 (and claimed it under the rule of Spain).

John Cabot was the first English explorer to claim land in the Northeast part of North America.

Magellan circumnavigated the globe (although he died before finishing the trip of the coast of Africa).

Verrazano was an Italian explorer for North America and was the first European to enter New York Bay in 1524.
