history question about Columbus. A little help please?

Do you believe that Columbus and the conquistador’s conquests were a vehicle for progress, or do you think they had a more negative impact?
 
It all depends on how you view "progress." Morally, I don't believe the conquistadors made any progress, but financially they certainly did. They turned Spain into a world super power.

I wouldn't compare Columbus to them though. He only wanted to find an easier route to the Indies so that merchants could trade goods cheaper.
