Hello,

I have a history of asthma, although now controlled, is still prevelant in my life. I have recently been very sick with your typical cold symptoms, coughing sore throat, nasal congestion, blah blah blah... however, they told me to go in and get an X-Ray, could someone tell me what this would accomplish? I thought x-ray's handles predominantly bone issues... Can they also see flem build up?

Thanks all!

By taking an xray, they can see if you have a build up of phlegm/snot/mucus in your lungs. This could be pneumonia. There are other things that can show up on xrays as well but nothing for you to worry about.

Yes xrays can "see" bones but what it is really doing is showing dense areas. Bones, tumors, foreign objects and thick mucus will show up.
