(1)How did workers and farmers attempt to organize during the latter part of the nineteenth century? What was the success and failures.

(2) What were the features of the United States government's policy toward the Indians? What were the factors that led to the passing of the Dawes Act in 1887.
 
1. The government was forced to intervene--in the Pullman case, on the bosses' side, and in the Homestead case on the workers' side.
