I am supposed to research these 2 time periods and the important events from that time period that relate to the memoir, A Long Way Gone. I need symbols that are significant to the time period (that relate to the memoir) and write important facts/information down. PLEASE HELP, I DO NOT GET THIS AT ALL!!!!!

Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, a diplomar who worked at the UN for more than 20 years, wins the presidential election under the banner of the SLPP.
