Where Should America Go From Here?

The decades before the Civil War were a time of great growth for the United States. As the country grew, the thinkers of the day developed vastly different ideas of what the United States should look like. Some felt that the United States should follow its “Manifest Destiny” to expand and grow. Some felt the United States should become a country free of slavery. Some felt it was necessary to unite the country—no matter the issues that divided it. Some felt that the national government was getting too strong and envisioned a country with greater rights for individual states. Groups and people debated the issues of the time, sometimes in person, sometimes through books, newspaper articles, or letters.

Description
For this project, you will imagine a conversation between two Americans who had different dreams for the United States. What would they talk about? How would they express their opinions? What would they say about the other person’s ideas? You will write a dialogue between two famous Americans who lived during the period 1820–1860 in which they discuss their beliefs and the differences between them.

PLEASE WRITE A PARAGRAPH TO EXPLAIN TO ME. (:
