Can anyone give me some ideas to use as my main points for this essay?
CONTEXT: "Progressives were essentially middle class moralists seeking to arouse the conscience of the "people" in order to purify American life. They were convinced that human beings were by nature decent, well intentioned, and kind. More deeply than earlier reformers they believed that the source of society's eveils lay in the structure of its institutions, not in the weaknesses or sinfulness of individuals. Therefore the solution to social problems lay in changing faulty institutions." John A. Garraty
TASK: One faulty institution was the garment industry centered in New York City. Using the documents provided and your knowledge of the Progressive Reform Movement discuss the conditions faced by the skilled immigrant seamstresses in the textile industry, specifially the shirtwaist factories. It is imperative that the perspectives from the factory owners, factory workers, and the progressive reformers be included in your analysis. Question? How much has really changed since the fire at Triangle.
If anyone can give me any ideas and/or main points to get across, it would be greatly appreciated.
