This being said, it can be argued that France’s economy needed only a period of peace and reconciliation, to allow the French people to return to their businesses and bring back the productivity of pre-war years, thus repairing the economy, in a relatively easy, and short period of time. In which case, the only real role the king played in the reparation of France’s economy was that of keeping the peace, for a long enough duration to allow her financial system to return to it’s formal greatness. Therefore it’s impossible to say that France was ruined by the wars of religion, as the word “ruin” denotes an irreparable destruction that would be impossible to recover from. Yet France’s recovery was amazingly swift
