I have a major love for history and archaeology. I find both fascinating. So I want to look for two types of books on the subject for personal reading. I want to find a book on the Ancient World History. I want with as much countries from around the world and details about the histories of there cultures. I also want to find another book on the Lost Civilizations from around the world. A book that has information on legendary islands that have said to exist and do not today and what information is available on them. I also want another book but on Folktales/ Fairy-tales from around the world. I want them from as many different backgrounds and cultures as possible. I would mean so much to me if you all would give me suggestions on which ones are the best to read. Thanks!
enrique d i would love it if you would give me the title to your history class book and any other titles that fit the description above

I can give you the title of my world history book for class. The book is actually written quite well, and its one I would read even if I was not in a class where I needed it. Let me know.

The book is called "Traditions & Encounters A global Perspective on the Past"
Written by Jerry H. Bentley and Herbert F. Ziegler.
A link to the book is in the sources part.

Hi !
An answer to part of your question is Will and Ariel Durant's "The Story of Civilization" is an eleven volume masterly work incorporating a synoptic overview of civilization itself .

Also , "The Histories" by Herodotus who is regarded as the father of all Occidental historians . His book does cover some lost civilizations , e.g. Atlantis , the Amazons .

Here is a book I found interesting. Gives some nice insights into ancient South American and North American civilizations:

'Floods, Famines and Emporers' by Brian Fagan, 1999. The relationship of the global weather system with history and archeology, concentrating mainly on El Nino and La Nina.
