As a big fan of the books I can't wait for this to make it onto the screen. Anyone else read the books ? The whole concept of the daemon is really original and interesting. Mind you it will be a complete pain in the ar$e to do in the movies ! Each human having to have a CGI animal with him or her at all times. Though I suppose some real animals are possible.

The rumours seem to be varied, which probably means its a long way away from starting proper.

I'm just worried that all references to God and the Church have been removed.

And the fact that the original director left?

It just makes me wonder. And I love the books and wish I'd seen the stage adaptation!

yeah the theatre show was really well received. Do you know if it was just the first book or did the stage show combine them all ?

I was thinking the other day that the first book on its own might be a bit odd the way it enRAB.

but then again,.........no more so than LOTR trilogy

The stage show was in two separate parts - which as far as I remember you could watch back-to-back if you wanted. I didn't get to watch it unfortunately, so I don't know which books were in which part...

Im really dreading this film and may try and avoid seeing it. I dont want to ruin the wonderful memory of the books for myself.

I too am worried about the removal of the religous aspects, I mean what on earth will the Amber Spyglass be about?
