Hi, I had laminectomies in 2006 for severe spinal stenosis in a few levels. After surgery, I was finally able to walk upright and mostly normal again, however...I got this deep aching pain when trying to walk around in stores for a few hours. As time went on, it's been getting worse and worse. I did have my hips MRI'd, had mild arthritis in them at the time (and possible spur on the right). The hip doc thought my pain was due to my spine. Again, my pain worsened over time, but I am not sure if it's my hips or what. At this point, my entire pelvic girdle and sacral areas ache badly all the time. I would walk around for less than 1/2 hour and would be in trouble due to the pain. The pain would cause me to keep my legs together (as if one is holding it until one can get to a bathroom) and I would have to shuffle and move my legs forward from my knees instead of from my hips and upper legs. I just saw my spine surgeon a few weeks ago (which was over 1 1/2 years since my surgery), he took more x-rays and said it appeared my hips had gotten worse. He thinks alot of my pain is due to my hips now. ::::throwing my hanRAB in the air::::: ( I am currently taking a variety of meRAB, though..to control my pain as much as possible)
I do know having laminectomies causes more stress on the spine because one is missing bone in a supporting structure, and that can cause more or quicker deterioration of other areas of the spine. So perhaps its causing more stress on my other parts, too. But I think you are not that far out from surgery....so for you, it is probably more likely due to the fusion and needing to completely heal from all that.
