Hip Replacement Surgery and recovery time

I had hip replacement surgery Sept 2008. I am 64 and other than an arthritic hip in good health. The surgery went very well. When in hospital I received 3 units of blood. The 12 weeks after surgery was not a walk in the park. When my doctor told me to start putting full weight on my leg, I threw away the crutches and used a cane. I have made an excellent recovery walking pain free and unaided. I have not walked so well in a long time. :bouncing: Here is the question, I have just begun to get back into a normal routine but tire easily. I listen to my body and take a nap when I need to. I find it frustrating that my body won't let me do all that I want to do in a day. I am still healing from the surgery as it has been over 4 months since surgery. My husband tells me there is something wrong when I feel exhausted and need to have a nap. I think he is being unfair:mad: after all I am 64. I hate being pressured to push myself past my limits. Is it reasonable to expect the healing to take 6 mths to a year.

I had total hip replacement Jan 5.It takes a lot out of you physically.I am also 64.You need to push yourself into doing more physical exercise to regain your strength. If you do not you will contine to spiral down.I worked out at a gym for months before surgery to get my body ready for the surgery.I was on my feet 2 hours after surgery, and walking with no assist in 9 days.Believe me, if you get on an exercise program it will work.I am suprised your doctor has not insisted on this
