hip pain, hurts to stand up or sit down. I have osteoprosis and degenertive disc disease.

I too have DDD and get constant pain on both hips that just throbs and radiates down the sides of my legs. I also have severe lower back pain to add to it which is absolutely unbearable tonight!! I feel like someone slammed me with a baseball bat in my back; just a really bad day!!!

What are your doctors doing for you. A few years ago my back doctor went in and killed the nerves in my back but it didn't last but 2 years. My back goes out for no reason. and I can't hardly walk for days. it gets worse every time.

So far nothing more than pain management. I'm on a pain patch and percocets for BT but they don't work when my back gets like this. I just started to venture my problems even though I've had them for about a year, I really didn't do much about it. I had a p/t job and 2 small kiRAB so it left me with hardly any time to take care of it. But I've since lost my job do to my pains which I feel is a blessing in a way; I can finally take care of myself. I was referred to a spine specialist so I'm hoping something good will come of it. All I know is that the problems I have; others have gotten fusions and and such and feel like I'm at the point where I'm really considering it if it were offered. If I do anything more than sitting but back is debilitating. I went camping for a week and I was okay but as soon as I got home and started to unpack that's when my back went out and feels the way I described; I just can't take it anymore. I played outside with my kiRAB for a couple of hours and here I am again in the same throbbing, burning intense pain. What stinks is that my MRI report and films do not show much but I'm in tremendous pain all the time and because of this doctors don't really take me too serious!

Has anyone been in this situation? Your report and films don't reflect your pain level? What was done about it? What other tests were done?

I've requested to do a discogram since I keep hearing that they show much more than MRI's but my doctors refuse to do it. I feel stuck!!!

WOW Cheryl it sounRAB like you typed my story. The docs keep telling me that ther isn't much in my mri to constitute the pain that i'm feeling. I even had one doc tell me that I was exagerrating my pain! I fell in a parking lot back in January and my life has taken a huge turn since then. I have pain every day...some days it can be about a 8 or 9 and other its about a 6. I don't sleep but 2 hrs at a time and the pain wakes me up. My docs don't think I need anything for pain so I use advil and aleve. My last doc said that I needed to go to the gym and lose weight. I went to the gym and got in the pool and ended up in the ER on Sunday. I canhardly walk most days but I go to work every day...because I know that will give me a reason to get out of bed...it will get me moving....and keep my spirits up. I wish I could give you some answers but unfortunately I'm in the same boat!

Hi, bburtx... I have the same problems as you do. I've battled the degeneration in my back for about 20 years now but only the last 10 under doctors care. I just turned 56 but about 5 years ago I was told I had the spine of a 75 year old  My hips only just recently started to become a major problem. I don't know what will be done about that yet because I only just today made an appointment to start the process for treatment in that area. Does anyone have any pointers on degeration of the hip? The pain is different than anything I've ever experienced before with my back. And it has caused my back pain to really flair up....
bburtx, I have found that sitting in my recliner, with my hips shifted forward, to take the pressure off, will offer some relief. And after a trip to the emergency room over the weekend due to unbearable pain, I was told to just flat stay off my feet until things get better. Also, I was given injections of Robaxin and Tordol with a 'script for the 5 day dose of Tordol pills. But to be honest, they just take the edge off, the problem is still there of course.
I have my appointment with the pain clinic soon and will see what they come up with.

move over seems like I'm in your boat also.
I have osteoprosis diagnosed 5years ago, one day not long ago, I left my daughter to her car, turned to come back in and fell completely limp over the bonnet of my own car, a neigrabroadour who lived opposite and saw me flop came over and held me up to get me inside the house, I was in excrucating pain spasms for 4 full days, bedridden, and remainded in bed on my back for a futher 4 days before I could get out of it.
A few weeks ago I took this awful pain in the ball of my left calf, I have a plate in the left hip as I fell and broke it due to the osteprosis, so I went after a few days to the A&E at the local hospital, they did a blood test said it wasnt DVT but assumed it was inflammation in the veins, gave me Ibprofen sent me home, after nearly 2 weeks it started to ease up, but on visiting the bathroom I turned to come down stairs and felt something 'go' in my lower spine, well I couldnt walk, sit or stand, so I got myself down to my GP, in my car, she wrote me letter to have an xray done, told me on no account was I to drive so I had to order a taxi and leave my car there, went to a different hospital the doctor took one look and said you have acute siatica and theres no cure, xrayed my plate in hip just to make sure it was still okay, which praise God it was, gave me pain meRAB and a letter for my GP that if they dont help to try me on morphine pain patches.
I am still in bed, thats happened last Thurs this is now nearly Wed nearly another week in bed again.
Pain meRAB not really doing a great job so am going to ask for the patches.
I take Actonel weekly for the Osteprosis.
GP has referred me for physio treatment and podietry for a heel raiser.

Any of you tried the morphine pain patches, are they any good for pain control?
I really do sypathize with you all with back pain, as there doesnt seem to much in the medical field for our relief...long term.
I am happy I have the Lord's help daily though.
