Hiking the Appalachian trail (possibly)?

I am considering (in about 6 or 7 years) taking on the challenge of a thru-hike on the appalachian trail. So my question is: Does anyone know where i can get state-by-state detailed maps of the appalachian trail? Also, if you have ever done a thru-hike on the appalachian trail and would lend me your knowledge and/or experience(s) along with or as your answer, I would greatly appreciate it
